Hey friend!
Whether you are just starting to dream about a Walt Disney World vacation or you’ve had a trip on your vision board for a while now, there is one thing I want you to hear right away: the earlier you start planning, the better your trip is going to be. Not slightly better. Noticeably better.
I know that sounds like something a travel advisor would say to get you moving. But stick with me, because there’s real math behind it and I’m going to walk you through exactly why.
Every year, I hear from families who wish they had called me sooner. Multi-generational trips. First visits with little ones. Graduation celebrations. The vacation that has been on the back burner for years is finally becoming a priority. And almost every single one of them says some version of the same thing once we start talking: “I didn’t realize how much goes into this.”
That’s where I come in.
What Are Disney World Vacation Packages, Anyway?
Disney World vacation packages are bundled booking options that combine your resort stay, park tickets, and optional add-ons like the Disney Dining Plan or Memory Maker into one reservation. They are sold directly through Walt Disney World and released once per year for the upcoming travel year.
Here is why that matters: Disney does not keep packages available indefinitely. When they release them, it is a specific window. Resorts start filling up immediately. Popular room categories go fast. And base pricing is at its lowest point right at the moment packages drop.
As the travel year fills up, prices go up. Disney uses dynamic pricing, which means the more demand there is for a given resort, room type, or travel date, the higher the rate climbs. The families who lock in early are the ones who get the best selection at the best price. It really is that simple.
I planned our very first Disney trip with my daughter Madison when she was four years old, and I did it while deployed, coordinating everything over Skype with a Disney Cast Member. It was the week before Christmas. Because I waited too long, availability was slim and prices were steep. We ended up at Port Orleans Riverside, which honestly turned out to be magical (hello, princess room with the light-up headboard!), but it wasn’t my first choice and I knew I had left better options on the table.
Compare that to a family I recently helped plan a summer trip. They reached out a full year in advance and secured the Yacht Club at the best available rate. When a Disney promotion dropped later, we applied it and they ended up with a deluxe resort stay at moderate pricing. Planning early didn’t just save them money. It gave them options, flexibility, and peace of mind the entire time.
Here is what I want you to know: the most important decisions about your Disney vacation often happen long before you pack your suitcase.
“But What If a Discount Comes Out Later?”
This is one of the most common questions I get. And I love it, because the answer is genuinely good news.
Disney historically releases promotional discounts after their annual price increases. That means those promotions are almost always applied to the newer, higher rate, not the base pricing from when packages first dropped. If you waited to book until a promotion came out, you might actually be paying more than someone who booked on day one with no promo at all.
But here is where working with me makes a real difference. Once you are booked, I continuously monitor your reservation. If a promotion is released that applies to your dates and resort category, I handle the adjustment automatically. You don’t have to watch Disney’s social media, set alerts, or call anyone. I just take care of it and send you a happy little email letting you know you saved money. 🌙
One of my favorite moments as a travel advisor is sending that “guess what” email. I had a family of five who booked their Disney vacation about a year out. They originally chose Caribbean Beach, then decided Stormalong Bay at the Yacht Club was calling their name and upgraded. When Disney released a Stay More, Save More promotion, that family qualified and ended up paying moderate resort prices for a full seven-night deluxe stay. Because they had booked early and already locked in the Yacht Club, there was no scrambling to find availability. They had their resort, their dates, their room, and the savings were just the cherry on top.
What Does It Take to Secure Your Vacation?
Most families are genuinely surprised by how simple this part is.
To lock in your resort and base pricing, Disney requires a $200 deposit per reservation. That’s it. The remaining balance is not due until 30 days before you arrive. So you are not paying for the whole trip today. You are just holding your spot at the best possible price while life continues and the details come together.
This means you can:
- Secure your resort and dates before availability shifts
- Spread your investment out over time instead of paying it all at once
- Make changes and finalize the details as your trip gets closer
If your plans change before final payment, your deposit is fully refundable according to Disney’s cancellation policy.
For busy families managing school calendars, work schedules, and all the moving pieces of real life, this kind of flexibility makes the whole thing feel manageable instead of overwhelming.
The Value of Planning Early
I have seen a really clear pattern over the years. Families who plan early show up to their vacation relaxed and excited. Families who wait show up stressed, and sometimes disappointed by what was left.
A family of four reached out to me in September wanting to visit Disney World for Thanksgiving week, which is one of the most popular travel windows of the entire year. Because they came to me with just enough runway, we were able to secure a stay at Beach Club for their very first Disney trip as a family. Their boys had the time of their lives. The resort, the pool, the room, all of it came together beautifully because we had time to be intentional. Had they waited another month, that resort at those dates would have been gone.
Early planning also gives us time to build out your park strategy, nail down dining reservations, and lock in any special experiences you are hoping for. When you are not scrambling at the last minute, we can actually design something that feels like YOUR trip, not just whatever was left.
How the Process Works With Me
Whether packages just dropped or you are planning ahead for the upcoming travel year, here is how I work with families at every stage.
If Disney World vacation packages are currently available:
This is the moment to move. I start processing requests in the order they are received the moment packages are released. If you are ready to book, reach out right away and we will get your quote together and your hold placed as quickly as possible. Even a few hours can make a difference in availability for popular resorts and dates.
If packages have not dropped yet:
This is actually a great time to get your details together so we are completely ready when booking opens. We will nail down your travel dates, talk through resort options, and make sure I have everything I need to move fast the moment packages are available. Families who do this prep work ahead of time consistently get better results on release day than families who are still deciding.
Either way, here is what working together looks like:
- I review your preferred travel dates and talk through what will work best for your family
- I recommend resorts that match your priorities, budget, and travel style
- I confirm all the details needed to secure your reservation
- I place your vacation on hold and finalize booking
- I monitor your reservation ongoing and apply any applicable Disney promotions automatically
I believe planning your Disney vacation should feel personal, intentional, and completely stress-free. Because this is not just logistics. It is your family’s time, your joy, and the core memories you are about to make. You deserve someone who treats this trip like the meaningful investment it truly is.
Why Work With a Travel Advisor?
The parks are more popular than ever. Planning a Disney vacation today involves a lot of moving pieces: dining reservations, park strategies, Lightning Lane, special experiences, and balancing the needs of everyone in your group.
My job is to be your detail-obsessed planning bestie. To take the overwhelm off your plate so you can actually look forward to the trip instead of dreading the planning process.
One of my clients put it perfectly: “I’m not exactly the easiest client to work for. After plans were decided, I changed my mind about which hotel, which cruise, even which dates we would go to Florida!! But she came through and went way above and beyond on every single request. My family will cherish the memories we made for the rest of our lives.” That is the goal. Every single time.
Behind the scenes, I am tracking your reservation, watching for promotions, and anticipating questions you don’t even know to ask yet. So that by the time you step foot in that park, all you have to do is show up and soak it all in.
When we work together, you get expert guidance tailored to your specific family, time saved from endless research, support before and during and after your trip, and most importantly, peace of mind.
