Hi everyone!
Every year, Walt Disney World releases vacation packages for the following travel year, and every year I watch the same thing happen. Families who move fast get their resort of choice at the best available rate. Families who wait get fewer options, higher prices, and a lot more stress.
That’s not a sales pitch. That’s just how Disney pricing works, and understanding it changes everything about how you approach planning.
Disney World vacation packages bundle your resort stay with park tickets, and sometimes a dining plan, into one reservation. A small deposit holds your spot. The balance isn’t due until 30 days before you arrive. So you’re not paying for the whole trip upfront. You’re just locking in your place at the best possible rate while the rest of the planning comes together.
If you want the full breakdown on why booking early is the single most important thing you can do for a Disney trip, I covered it in detail here.
But if you’re here because packages just dropped and you’re trying to figure out your next move fast, let’s get into it.

The Short Version on Disney’s Pricing
Disney uses dynamic pricing. The more rooms and ticket packages fill up, the higher the cost climbs. Release day is historically when availability is strongest and base pricing is lowest. It doesn’t stay there.
At some point after packages drop, Disney raises ticket prices, room rates, dining plan costs, or some combination of all three. When you book on or close to release day, you lock in that base rate. Future price increases don’t affect your reservation.
It only takes a $200 deposit per reservation to hold your dates and resort. That’s not a lot of money to secure a trip that could otherwise cost significantly more if you wait.
One of my favorite examples: a family I worked with had their hearts set on Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for their first Walt Disney World trip. They’d been dreaming about it for months. A quick monorail ride to Magic Kingdom or EPCOT, the Volcano pool, watching fireworks from the beach. We got their reservation locked in within hours of packages dropping. They got exactly what they wanted at the best available rate, because they moved when it counted.
What Happens to Promotions After You Book
Here’s something most people don’t know, and it’s one of my favorite things to explain to new clients.
Disney typically releases promotional discounts after their annual price increases. Which means those promos are almost always calculated against the newer, higher rate, not the base pricing from release day. Waiting for a promotion can actually cost you more than booking at release day pricing with no promo applied.
But here’s the part that makes working with a travel agent genuinely worth it: once you’re booked with me, I monitor your reservation. If Disney releases a promotion that applies to your resort category and travel dates, I apply it for you. You don’t have to watch their social channels, set calendar reminders, or call anyone. I just handle it and send you an email.
I had a family booked for a week at Walt Disney World. They had their whole trip planned and were excited. A few months after booking, Disney released a promotion that applied to their exact dates and resort. I made the adjustment, recalculated their remaining balance, and sent them a quick message: “You just saved money.” They came back and booked with me again the following year.
Already Booked Directly With Disney? Here’s What You Can Do
Release-day energy is real, and sometimes the excitement kicks in before the planning brain does. You are not alone in clicking confirm on Disney’s website before you fully thought through what comes next.
Or maybe you’ve had a reservation for a while now and you’re just starting to realize how many moving pieces are involved. Dining reservations open 60 days out. Lightning Lane strategy is its own universe. Which days to rope drop, which parks to pair, what experiences need advance booking.
I had a client reach out to me a few days after booking a Disney trip completely on her own. She’d confirmed her reservation, felt great about it, and then opened her email to find 47 tabs she’d saved about dining reservations and park strategy. She was overwhelmed before the trip had even started. We transferred her reservation, I took over the monitoring and planning support, and she later told me it was the best decision she made for that whole experience.
If that sounds familiar, here are three ways I can still support you.
Option 1: Transfer Your Reservation
If you booked directly with Disney within the last 30 days and haven’t paid in full, your reservation may be eligible to transfer to my care at no additional cost to you. Once it’s transferred, I manage the reservation, watch for discounts, and guide you through every planning detail from here.
Option 2: Rebook Strategically
If your reservation is more than 30 days old, I can evaluate whether rebooking makes sense for your situation. Sometimes we can replicate your reservation at similar pricing and move it under my management. Just send me your confirmation email and I’ll take a look at your options.
Option 3: Add Planning Support
If you’d like to keep your existing reservation exactly as is but still want expert guidance on the planning side…dining reservations, itinerary building, park strategy…I offer planning packages for exactly that. Just schedule a complimentary call to talk about the details.

Why Booking Early Changes the Entire Experience
I’ve planned a lot of Disney trips. The families who feel the most relaxed on their vacation are consistently the ones who planned early. Not because they’re more organized by nature. Because they had time.
When you book early, you have time to make dining reservations at the restaurants that actually matter to your family. You have time to learn Lightning Lane before you need to use it at 7am from your resort room. You show up to Magic Kingdom on day one with a plan instead of a to-do list you’re trying to work through on a phone screen.
That difference in the trip experience is real. And it starts with one decision made at the right time.
Want to understand exactly how to pick your travel dates, choose the right resort for your family, and build a game plan before packages drop? I broke all of that down in detail here.
How the Process Works With Me
Whether packages just dropped or you’re planning ahead for next year, here’s exactly how we get started.
If Disney World Vacation Packages Are Currently Available
This is the moment to move. Here’s what happens when you reach out now:
- You fill out my planning request form and share your travel preferences, dates, and resort wishlist.
- I pull together your quote and get your hold placed as quickly as possible, often the same day.
- Your reservation is secured at current base pricing with a $200 deposit.
- From there, I manage the rest: monitoring for discounts, handling changes, and guiding you through every planning step from dining reservations to park strategy.

If Packages Haven’t Dropped Yet
Planning ahead is still one of the most valuable things you can do. Here’s how we start now:
- You fill out my planning request form so I have your family’s preferences, travel window, and wishlist on file.
- I add you to my waitlist so you’re notified the moment new packages are available.
- When packages drop, I reach out immediately, and we move quickly to lock in your spot before availability tightens.
- You don’t have to track release dates or watch Disney’s website. I do that for you.
